An Atlanta Sheriff from Kentucky who was in a shooting war between a gang of bandits and Rick's fellow Sheriffs Shane his best friend, Lambert and Leon. The Sheriffs won the war but a surviving bandit shot Rick in the back. Rick was in hospital for two months and wakes up seeing a complete waste land. Rick Grimes meets two survivors named Morgan Jones and his son Duane Jones. They first think that Rick is a Walker but then they take Rick and told Rick what has happened. Morgan said that there was an outbreak of a infection that made people come back to life eating the living. Later Rick takes the two of them to the King County Sheriffs department where they all got weapons. Later they split up and Rick goes to Atlanta but he is ambushed by Walkers. Rick then runs to a near by abandoned tank and a few hours later a survivor named Glenn helps him out and they unit to find a way out after they got stuck in a supply run. The supply run group's members include Glenn Rhee, Andrea, Jacqui, Theodore T-Dog Douglas, Andrea and Merle Dixon. they manage to get out alive but they leave Merle on the rooftop handcuffed after a fight. Rick then finds out that his son and wife are at the camp outside Atlanta and they reunite. Rick's best friend Shane is there and later on Rick becomes the leader of the group.
